About Us

Pelagic Outfitters was born from 2 buddies, Chris & Doug, who love to fish. It is said that if you can love what you do it is not considered work. Working in this industry and being able to spend our days affiliating with other fisherman and helping other fisherman hook up is what we are striving for.

Pelagic Outfitters is geared towards the type of shop both of us have always looked for and could never find. Yes, there are many "Bait & Tackle" shops out there in the world, however, a place that carries top flight gear with a knowledgeable person to explain not only what the difference is between similar products but more importantly which is the right product for the intended is not your typical tackle shop.
Pre-packaged rigs and off the shelf leader is the norm. Not here. Chris makes his own Topshots and Wind-Ons and Spectra Spooling. We do reel repair on the premises rather than fill out paperwork and ship your reel off to the mfg. We can tell you the differences between rods, not only for the species you're after, but what type of action you'll get.

The only difference between us and the other guy is us. With the advent of the Internet you can go online and buy anything from anyone. We're here to offer you something that seems to be disappearing....knowledgeable customer service. We want to build a relationship with you offering our experience in order to improve your catch.

Fishing has been Chris' passion since his early childhood years. His first offshore trip happened in 1981 at the age of nine, and has been hooked ever since. He is currently a holder of a 50 ton USCG Masters license with over 250 trips to the edge under his belt. He is in the shop full time to assist you with all of your fishing related questions and/or needs.

Doug's been fishing longer, only because he's older, however, when it comes to experience Chris rules the roost. We've been fishing together for the better part of a dozen years and each trip Chris teaches me more and more. Doug's been involved in Sporting Goods retail for many years with his involvement with Camera Land not only as a Camera retailer but one of the largest independent Sports Optics retailers in the USA for Riflescopes and outdoor Optics. His connections in the industry will bring many valuable opportunities that we can pass along here at Pelagic Outfitters.

When it comes right down to it, it's not all about fishing, it is about catching.
